About this speaker

Ciara Darnise Miller, a native of Chicago, holds both an MFA and MA in Poetry and African American/African Diaspora Studies from Indiana University. She received her BA in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. She is a Cave Canem fellow who has published poems and academic essays in such collections and periodicals as Break Beat Poets, African American Review, Callaloo, Muzzle, Alice Walker: Critical Insights, Chorus, and many more.  She serves as a Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse professor at DePaul University as well as an Afro-American Studies professor at Kennedy King College.
